   May Day Blossom CIK
1998 AQHA Palomino Mare
14.3 hands $4,900
Sugar is the first horse we sold to Jeanine. Due to life changes we now have this beautiful mare back to offer to you.
A little history on Sugar from Jeanine: Sugar has been owned by our family since she was 6 years old. Each of my boys learned to ride on her.
Each boy was approximately 11 years old when they started riding.
Sugar has been a drill team horse for the Hilltop Hayburners 4H drill team for many years.
Through the drill team she has participated in many parades, including the Ellensburg Rodeo Parade and the Seafair Parade
in downtown Seattle, along with other local parades each year. The drill team did performances at the Ellensburg Rodeo,
where they also particpated in the Grand Entries. The team also participated each year at the Evergreen State Fair,
where the team performed during the half-time break for the Clydesdale show. They also performed annually at Bridle Trails Party in the Park.
Sugar has done gaming, both through 4H and at local playdays. Her young riders took gaming lessons on her for a time.
She has been patterned for games, but was never asked to be intensely competitive.
Sugar did several cattle sortings with her young rider and they had fun.
She was also ridden in a feedlot before being purchased by us, so cows are not an issue for her.
Sugar has ponied other horses, has been ridden in the woods after dark by the light of the full moon,
has been ridden on the street, has been ridden along the fence at a busy dog park (with dogs running up to the fence barking while she stood there and grazed),
and has been the horse that we have put green riders on. Sugar has been taken camping and has been on large and small group trail rides in the mountains.
Sugar can be ridden bareback in a rope halter and lead rope. You can slide off her butt.
She does not behave in an overly "mare-ish" way. In the drill team performances she was required to be ridden very close to and sandwiched between other horses (riders knee to knee),
and to lope in a line toward and through another line of horses for suicide passes. Sugar has been loped in an arena full of
spectators with music blaring and an announcer talking over a loudspeaker, while her rider carried a full-sized flag.
Sugar loads beautifully into a trailer (we have a three horse slant) and can be backed out by her tail.
Sugar can be ridden away from her pasture without incident while her buddies are calling to her.
For the last few years she has been the only mare in a pasture with three geldings.
Sugar is sadly for sale because the interests of her young riders have turned to sports, girls and cars.
