Sand Dunes Ranch       Training Grounds :

We are located on 285 acres and have access to many more acres of sand hills, perfect for training a young horse. We have many different situations to ride in, sand, hills, brush and water. Dale starts each training session with round pen training. And soon advances to "outside" riding. Take a look at the photos below for an idea of what your horse will learn while here at Sand Dunes Ranch. Remember, this is only a sampling of Dale's "Foundation Training".

Round pen work is the start of foundation training here at Sand Dunes Ranch. Dale is always quick to give a pat or well placed scratch as a reward.

Changing leads, circles, collection all are part of the daily routine here at Sand Dunes Ranch.

Trail riding gives your horse the experience of facing different situations. Although we can not predict every situation you may come across, Dale can prepare your horse for some of the unknowns. Like a rabbit running across the trail in front of you. A pheasant or quail flying out of the brush. Crossing logs, water and brushy areas.

Opening gates teaches side passing as well as patience.

When conditions are right Dale will take your horse into the water.
